Assam is once again battling one of the worst flood disasters in recent years. Relentless monsoon rains and overflowing rivers have devastated hundreds of villages, claiming precious lives and leaving more than 5 lakh people affected across the state. Families have been forced to abandon their homes, with thousands now living in temporary shelters, desperately in need of food, clean drinking water, medicines and other basic essentials.
The worst-affected districts currently include Sivasagar, Jorhat, Charaideo, Golaghat and Dibrugarh, where floodwaters continue to inundate villages, agricultural land and homes. Although water levels have started receding in some places, the humanitarian crisis is far from over, and thousands of families require immediate assistance.
Uday Foundation has initiated flood relief operations in Assam in partnership with trusted local grassroots organisations. Our teams are distributing essential relief materials, including dry ration kits, safe drinking water, hygiene supplies, tarpaulins, blankets and other emergency necessities to the families who need them the most.
